MSU museum has three floors of exciting
collections, changing special exhibits at Michigan's most popular
natural, cultural history museum with an emphasis on the Great Lakes region. Halls
of continuing exhibits are devoted to world cultures, evolution, animal
diversity and heritage. Special exhibits rotate quarterly and the museum
store has a nice selection of books, jewelry, traditional arts and
educational gifts for children.

Operated by the Waterloo Area Historical Society, these
museums transport you about to rural farm life of the mid to late 1800s.
The Farm Museum is comprised of a main house and several outbuildings
including a milk cellar,wind mill, bake house, ice house, workshop and granary
(which also house the Museum's gift shop). The Dewey School Museum allows
children from near and far to experience some 19th Century rural schooling. Open
Wed-Sun, 1pm-5pm. Closed Mon & Tue. Admission for the Farm Museum is
$3.00/adults, $2.50/ages 62 , $1.00/youth ages 5-18. There is no admission fee for
members of the Waterloo Area Historical Society. Special events have an
additional $1.00 grounds admission fee. Admission to the Dewey School is

As the flagship of Michigan's state museum system, the
Michigan Historical Museum surrounds visitors with Michigan history from
prehistoric times through the late twentieth century. Twenty-six permanent
galleries and a special exhibit gallery are located on five levels. A
three story relief map of Michigan greets the visitor in the museum's main
atrium. Walk through an Upper Peninsula copper mine, stroll along a 1920s street,

Located two blocks southwest of the State Capitol, the
312,000-square-foot Michigan Library and Historical Center boasts a five-story
glass atrium, a live 55-foot-tall Michigan white pine surrounded by a
copper-clad outdoor courtyard and a limestone exterior. The building houses
the Library of Michigan and the Michigan Historical Center, which
includes the Michigan Historical Museum and the State Archives of Michigan. The
Library of Michigan, our state's version of the Library of Congress,
houses more than 5.6 million items stored on over 27 miles of shelving.
The Library's impressive holdings include one of the ten largest
genealogical collections in the United States, a unique Michigan collection and
legal materials dating back several centuries. With documents dating back
to 1797, the State Archives of Michigan houses much of Michigan's recorded
heritage. Established in 1913, the State Archives holds more than
100 million state and local government records and private papers, 330,000
photographs and 500,000 maps, plus films and audio tapes that are
available for public research in this state-of-the-art facility.

This museum recognizes the achievements of Michigan women,
past and present. It houses the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame gallery and
the Belen art gallery, which displays the work of Michigan women

Features artifacts and documents tracing the history of
area transportation from 1883 to the present. Antique vehicles and automotive
memorabilia as well as aircraft, bicycles and carriages are displayed.
Automobiles exhibited range from the first Oldsmobile, built in 1897
to the first 1966 Toronado off the line. Oldsmobile's history is
highlighted from 1880 to present day, with displays including vintage vehicles,
engines, awards, photographs and artifacts. This collection of cars and
memorabilia is a tribute to the auto industry.

A national historic landmark, the 145 year-old
Turner-Dodge Mansion is a fine example of Classical Revival architecture, and the
only 19th century residence in the greater Lansing area open to the public
year round. It has a charming heritage garden and costumed interpretive
guides.
